As a sculptor based in Seattle, my journey began in Istanbul, a city that has served as the capital for diverse cultures from ancient to modern times. Having lived in Türkiye, Dubai, South Africa, and now the USA, the rich cultural landscapes of the Middle East, Africa, and America have profoundly shaped my art. Through clay, my primary medium, I engage in a tactile dialogue that captures the intricate relationships between nature and humanity.
My portfolio spans a journey that starts in Mesopotamia and the Aegean, reflecting various civilizations. Each sculpture aims to bridge the depths of human history with the present, blending nature, humanity, and the echoes of the past through a modern interpretation. I am also drawn to the relief technique, which allows me to layer, texture, and shape my narratives in a dynamic and visually engaging manner, using a variety of clays chosen for their unique properties and ability to embody different aspects of nature and human emotion.
My artistic philosophy revolves around the idea that art is a bridge between times and cultures. I find inspiration in ancient civilizations, their symbols, and their stories, which I reinterpret through a contemporary lens to create pieces that evoke both the past and the present.
